Providence Dining: Brickway On Wickenden

On a recent roadtrip to visit a relocated New York friend in Providence, we had a delicious farewell brunch at Brickway on Wickenden. Clearly, brunch is a popular weekend meal in Providence, as there was a wait at our initial restaurant choice, which brought us to Brickway, where we still had to wait over 30 minutes.

The restaurant has a definite "college-town" feel (not surprising, with RISD and Brown nearby) and is furnished with mismatched 50's style diner tables and the walls are decorated with paintings from local artists. A painting on the wall by Amy Ryan caught my eye, and I took it home as a souvenir of a fabulous girls weekend away. The front area stayed crowded as new arrivals waiting to be seated replaced folks as quickly (and sometimes more quickly) as people were seated.

In the end, the wait was worth it, as service was friendly, omelets and pancakes were delicious, and our coffee was refilled frequently throughout the meal.
